All students follow the AQA English Language and English Literature specifications. The GCSE course includes a Speaking and Listening component where we encourage students to be lively, sparky and interesting as well as convincing and coherent: we try to facilitate them being their authentic selves whilst developing an academic and formal voice.
As students study the range of literary texts outlined in the GCSE specification, we continue to nurture them as independent readers: they still take part in ‘Drop Everything and Read’ and we provide and recommend classic and modern texts and novels for them to read for pleasure.
