Students will explore the work of historical and contemporary visual artists and designers, exploring the different purposes, intentions and functions of visual art and design. They will acquire and develop skills, knowledge and understanding through the application of artistic techniques and processes using a variety of media. They will then go on to use this to demonstrate their ability to work creatively, exploring and refining their ideas to produce meaningful visual outcomes. Throughout the curriculum, students will acquire and utilise specialist vocabulary which they will use confidently to express and justify their observations, interpretations, experiences and intentions.
At KS4, students are able to study Fine Art (GCSE AQA) and Photography (GCSE AQA).
Students are then able to continue their studies at KS5, with the choices of Fine Art (A Level AQA) and/or Photography (A Level AQA).
